I graduated with a degree in Business Management. From 2000, I was based (on and off) in Chicago for 5 years. I returned to Ireland in 2005 and worked in the private sector as a Business Analyst in Healthcare with SPSS. Through this role working with healthcare professionals, I realized I wanted to work with people to improve their lives. I changed career in 2007 and worked in St. James’s Hospital for 9 years as an Occupational Therapy Assistant providing one to one physical and cognitive rehab therapy and group therapy programs in many areas including Orthopaedics, the National Burns Unit, Cancer, Stroke services etc. In 2016, I was appointed the first Therapy Program Coordinator role in St. James’s Hospitals’ Residential Units (nursing home). I set up a multi-disciplinary evidence-based Therapy and Recreational program. I provided lectures in St. James’s Hospital Centre for Learning and Development on Healthy Relationships and Communications and lectures in the Dementia Services Information Directorate Centre (DSIDC).
I graduated in 2014 with a Masters in Psychotherapy and have worked as a therapist since. In 2021, I resigned from St. James’s Hospital (a place I dearly loved working in) and started to work full time as a psychotherapist, finally setting up Aimsir Psychotherapy.
In 2023 I joined Dublin Business School (DBS) School of Arts faculty as Process Group Facilitator.
In my spare time, I help to plant native trees with The 100 Million Tree Project. In 2020, I became a Beekeeper and help maintain an allotment. I volunteer with ALONE charity in Dublin. I have also returned to learning the Irish language which is exciting and challenging.
