Aimsir Psychotherapy Services
Psychotherapy
In individual psychotherapy we establish treatment goals and work collaboratively to meet those goals. The therapeutic process is guided by evidence-based theory and practice.
Through psychotherapy, the client explores their early life and development. This process encourages a client to understand their own neurobiological development. The therapist, informed by Attachment theory, Developmental theory, Character Styles and Body-Trauma informed therapy works with clients to help them understand the impact relationships and experiences have had on their connection and engagement with the world and how they effectively learned to consciously and unconsciously navigate throughout life.

Counselling
Counselling focuses more on working with clients to process the here and now. It is a form of therapy which is very effective in supporting a client to find their way through challenges. This approach to therapy is often used by psychotherapists. It is a suitable approach when a client may not wish to process early life with in-depth analysis but may still need to work through challenges and changes in their lives. This approach harnesses the person-centred theory of Carl Rogers, focusing on empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence.
Counselling does not explore the clients’ childhood psychological development, personality development, character styles and family systems with as much intensity as psychotherapy.
