An Ethical Approach
It’s essential for clients to work with therapists who are qualified to meet their needs. It’s important to have a consultation to outline your reasons for seeking therapy and your goals. Through this process, a therapist can inform a client if their academic qualifications and therapeutic experience meet the client needs.
Psychotherapists who are accredited with the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP) must adhere to their code of ethics;
IACP Code of Ethics
IAHIP Code of Ethics
Psychotherapists who are accredited with IACP or IAHIP are required to attend professional supervision where they review their client case work and receive guidance and consultation. Client confidentiality is maintained in this process.
